We take a macroeconomic, top-down approach to the markets.
We believe the old, simple strategy of “buy and hold” that was used successfully from 1982 to 2000 is no longer relevant and is in fact dangerous. After two market crashes occurring within the same decade, we have developed a strategic asset allocation system that has as its purpose the identification of the major market trend that is in place at any given time. Clients are advised as to the major direction of the market and the attendant portfolio composition. In short, our goal is to be in the market when the major trend is up, and out of the market when the major trend is down.
A wide variety of sources of information and analysis are used including, but not limited to, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Standard & Poor’s, CNBC and several private technical and fundamental analysis and research services. Over the years, John has developed proprietary technical indicators and strategies as well.
John believes the single most important thing an investor or investment manager can know is what the primary market trend is and to invest accordingly.
